Are you lusting after those gorgeous beach waves but don’t know how to get them? I’ve got you covered! In this blog post, I’ll show you how to use a sea salt hair texturizer to get salon-quality waves at home.

HOW TO:

Step 1: Prep your hair. If your hair is on the oily side, start by washing it with a clarifying shampoo. This will help to remove any build-up from products that can weigh your hair down and make it difficult to style. Once your hair is clean, add a quarter-size amount of leave-in conditioner to help protect your hair from the salt water. You can also mist your hair with a heat protectant spray if you plan on using a curling iron or other hot styling tools.

Step 2: Spray your hair with a sea salt hair texturizer (I’m using Beauty by Earth’s Sea Salt Hair Spray). If you have fine or thin hair, you might want to add a few drops of light oil to the mix to help weigh down your waves and prevent them from getting too frizzy. For thick or coarse hair, carefully massage about a tablespoon of aloe vera gel into hair to tame flyaways.

Step 3: Spray your sea salt spray onto damp or wet hair and scrunch it in with your fingers. Be generous with the amount you use — you want your hair to be saturated so that the waves will hold. Once you’ve evenly sprayed your locks, twist small sections of your hair around your fingers and clip them up out of the way. Let your hair air dry or use a diffuser on low heat if you’re in a hurry.

Step 4: Once your waves are dry, release them from the clips and tousle them with your fingers for added texture. If you want extra definition, wrap small sections of hair around a 1-inch curling iron and hold for a few seconds before releasing.

And there you have it — beach waves that are easy to achieve at home! With this simple four-step guide, you’ll have gorgeous waves in no time. Just don’t forget to take selfies once you’re done — I guarantee they’ll be Instagram-worthy! Want more ideas on getting that beach wave, mermaid hair look? Check out this post.
